Accreditation Officer

IPPF European Network is looking for a dynamic Accreditation Officer who wants to join its Brussels-based office.  The objective of the IPPF Accreditation process is to increase the performance, transparency, accountability and management of our 41 Member Associations located throughout Europe and Central Asia. The Accreditation process is the quality label for IPPF membership and therefore extremely important.

The job requires a thorough understanding of NGO governance and management and the sensitivity to work with local staff and volunteers.  A successful candidate should be willing to travel frequently in the region; be fluent in English (any other language is an asset); be a team player and be able to balance persistence with diplomacy.  We are looking for someone with at least 3 years’ experience in the NGO sector or volunteering at governance level.

1.         JOB PURPOSE

 

To ensure the successful accreditation of Member Associations; to provide technical support to Member Associations related to IPPF governance and policy;

 

2.         KEY TASKS

Familiarizes with the IPPF governance structures, roles and responsibilities as well as with the Acts and Regulations of IPPF

 Implements the Accreditation Review Process including the submission of formats to IPPF Central Office  

Coordinates with the Governance and Policy Unit of IPPF Central Office as and when necessary

Represents the Region in the Accreditation Focal Point meetings

Briefs and debriefs Regional Office management and staff on accreditation visits including capacity building needs of Member Associations  

Collaborates with the other teams in the Regional Office to ensure  inclusion of accreditation follow-up during Technical Assistance visits

 Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Programme Director from time to time

Familiarizes with IPPF EN Staff Manual

 

3.         EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in social science or management (NGO management)

4.         PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

 

At least 3 years experience in working with NGOs or volunteering at a governance level.

5.         SKILLS

Understands NGO governance and management structures and is able to analyze documents related to this; is sensitive to volunteer/staff relations and must have presentation and training experience, computer literacy; fluent in English, any other language an asset

 

6.         PERSONAL COMPETENCE

A commitment to human rights issues; open mind to ideas and people, able to work in a multicultural environment; willing and able to travel significantly within the Region; ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines; ability to work on own initiative; flexibility and ability to work in a team; ability to be diplomatic and persistent at the same time; having a good sense of humour.
