December 5th 2011 - As we celebrate today the UN International Volunteer Day together with the European Year of Volunteering and the 10th anniversary of the UN International Year of Volunteers (IYV2001+10), IPPF European Network would like to take this landmark opportunity to celebrate IPPF volunteers across our region.
We would like to pay special tribute to the many individuals who believe in IPPF and who freely volunteer their time, skills and ideas to improve the lives of women, men and young people in their communities and beyond.
“As a volunteer-based organization, volunteers are central to IPPF and to our future”, says Vicky Claeys, IPPF EN Regional Director. “We believe volunteers are essential to any NGO or civil society group as it is often the only way to raise the voice of the public and to ensure that NGOs are formulating the needs of society and not just their own needs as organisations.”
IPPF hopes to continue to attract new volunteers and continue to invest in their passion and commitment to sexual and reproductive health and rights.
