Youth and AIDS seminar in Bucharest

7/23/2008

The Romanian Association Against AIDS (ARAS) held a Youth and AIDS seminar in Bucharest, Romania on 27-28 June 2008 in the framework of their AIDS Action & Integration project funded by the European Commission, the Open Society Institute and GFTAM. Participants in this seminar were young people who were either living with HIV or directly working in the field of youth and HIV/AIDS prevention and support. During this seminar participants were able to share experiences and increase their skills in working to prevent HIV/AIDS and support young people living with HIV/AIDS. Sessions during the seminar included a presentation by UNAIDS on the HIV/AIDS situation in Europe, discussion sessions on HIV prevention and support to vulnerable groups (injecting drug users, men who have sex with men, young people living with HIV, and Roma populations) as well as a historical overview on influential HIV/AIDS activists and an introduction to interactive tools in working with young people. IPPF EN was invited by ARAS to give a presentation during the Seminar on Comprehensive Approaches in HIV Prevention and Sexual Health.
