Library

The IPPF European Network's Resource Centre in Brussels (Belgium) was created to meet the information and research needs of the staff of the IPPF EN Regional Office, its Member Associations (MAs), other NGOs, politicians and advocates, journalists and other interested parties. Here you can find out more about the collection and our services.

Our Resource Centre is a specialised library with a rich collection of books and periodicals, articles, brochures, videos and multimedia materials, and over one hundred journals and newsletters.

The library is open for consultation on appointment.

The Collection



The collection covers the fields of sexual and reproductive health and rights, population, development, civil society and NGO development. Its focus is largely European, but it contains also the international publications that are indispensable for specialists in the sector. The materials are classified according to four thematic sections and two geographical ones.

The thematic sections are:

1. Sexual and Reproductive Health, with subsections on Abortion, Contraception, HIV/AIDS, STIs, Infertility, Maternal and Child Health, Male Involvment, S&RH Programmes, S&RH Services, Training, Youth and the Disabled.
2. Sexual and Reproductive Rights, with subsections on Human Rights, Advocacy and Communication, Choice (pro-choice/anti-choice movement), Ethics, Gender Issues (equality), Sexual Orientation, Female Genital Mutilation, Sexuality Education, Women's Rights and Status, the Beijing Conference, Violence against Women and Trafficking, Children's Rights and Sexual Abuse.
3. Population and Development, with subsections on Demography, Population Policy, Population Ageing, ICPD, the MDG's, Development Aid, European Development Programmes, Economy, Environment, Family, Migrants & Minorities, Refugees & Emergencies, Social Issues.
4. Organizations and Institutions, with subsections on Civil Society, Governance, Management & Capacity Building, Resource Mobilization & Sustainability, Directories of Organizations and Institutions, with documentation (Annual Reports, Strategic Plans, brochures, etc.).


The geographical sections include documentation relating to all the regions in which IPPF works, with information on the countries and the MAs.
Europe constitutes a large section in its own right, with specific country information and a collection of all the publications of the MAs which are members of the European Network.


New Acquisitions
The Resource Centre issues a bulletin listing its new acquisitions. The bulletin contains abstracts of the publications and a link to the publications' on-line version, when available. The newsletter highlights specific resources (e.g. bibliographies) or interesting websites, when possible.

Queries

 

The Resource Centre provides assistance in research to a variety of professionals and responds to individual queries by appointment, mail, e-mail, or telephone.
Information services are not subject to fees but assistance is given as time allows.
