Towarzystwo Rozwoju Rodziny (TRR) has ten branches which organize medical counselling, as well as regular information and education courses for:
- young people
- teachers
- parents
- professionals
on different aspects of sexual health and human reproduction. TRR services also include HIV testing and counselling.
In addition to medically-oriented clinics, TRR also runs counselling centres for young people and families.
The services offered are an alternative to the state healthcare system, as well as a model in terms of respecting clients’ rights and the latest diagnostic and treatment methods.
Thanks to TRR campaigning in 2002, the Ministry of Health decided to add oral contraceptives to the list of refundable contraceptives. As a result, the price of contraceptives has come down and availability has improved.
TRR is trying to fill the gaps in sexuality education by campaigning for changes in the curriculum and the monitoring of subject implementation in schools.
Under pressure from non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the Ministry of Education and Sport decided to continue the commission on revisions to the “Education for Family Life” curriculum.
The commission’s President, Mr. Zbigniew Izdebski, represents TRR.
Respect for human rights is the basic condition for the participation of Poland in the European Union (EU). Because of that, the work of TRR is an important component as Polish society adapts itself to the norms required by the EU.
