Fondation Suisse pour la Santé Sexuelle et Reproductive (PLANeS) focuses on information, education and advocacy for sexual and reproductive health care and rights.
We represent sexual and reproductive health professionals in Switzerland, in particular family planning centres and sexuality education services.
To fulfil our goals, we focus our approach on five main fields.
Information and access
PLANeS proposes services in the fields of:
- sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR)
- general population
- services and documentation for migrants
- counselling about abortion
- for our members PLANeS provides: information about conferences, workshops, and continuous training.
Co-ordination
PLANeS coordinates its member associations in an SRHR network, and works in partnership with professional non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and national organizations (Swiss Aids Federation, Swiss Public Health Office).
Advocacy
PLANeS promotes SRHR on the political level, in particular through our parliamentry group "CAIRO+". We also advocate public debate and participate in actions on the international level, together with IPPF and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Quality
PLANeS organizes high quality training which leads to recognition as a "counsellor in family planning" and an "educator in sexuality education". We work to develop a label of quality for professionals through this.
Young people
PLANeS wants every school in the country to be obliged to have a programme for sexuality education at several grades, and intends to develop quality standards for it, and for teachers' training.
Since 2006, we have also had a "youth project", focusing on encouraging better youth participation in SRHR structures.
In September 2007, PLANeS began the IPPF accreditation process.
